Credo of The Molokai Journal

  • The Molokai Journal respects all cultures of Hawaii and acknowledges the importance of the native Hawaiian culture.
  • The Molokai Journal believes in the entrepreneurial spirit and supports Molokai businesses and the jobs they create.
  • The Molokai Journal is not affiliated with any political party and supports a “Common Sense” approach to the political process.
  • The Molokai Journal stands in defense of personal liberty and freedom of expression for everyone.   Each of us is entitled to express our beliefs (religious, political, social), as long as our actions do not prevent other people from freely expressing their beliefs.   Intimidation and fear are not part of Molokai’s Aloha Spirit.  Personal freedom comes with the price of personal responsibility, accountability and respect for others.  On Molokai we should once again “live and let live.”
  • The Molokai Journal believes a sustainable future for Molokai is possible with increased employment and economic opportunities that make responsible use of our natural resources.   We encourage these activities and invite all interested parties to participate.
  • The Molokai Journal defends free speech and public protest, but insists that it is more constructive to support alternative solutions rather than simply stand in protest of an issue.
  • We all matter, regardless of our race, religion, social status or where we live.  The greatest strength of our community lies in our diversity.
  • The Molokai Journal believes that relying solely on government subsidies in-lieu of earning a living undermines sovereignty and prevents sustainability.  Government funds (taxpayer dollars) will eventually run out.
